Detection of mecA Gene and Identification of Potential Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus Aureus in Hospital Wastewater Samples

Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is one of the most important causes hospital infections worldwide. S. tends to be resistant multiple antibiotics. High-level resistance antibiotics caused by mecA gene, which encodes an alternative penicillin-binding protein, PBP 2a. The present study was aimed detect in potential isolates clinical wastewater. Three wastewater samples were collected and bacteria isolated manitol salt agar (MSA) medium. PCR performed sequencing done screen bacterial isolates. Antibiotic also tested at levels 50, 100, 200 300 μg/mL ampicillin. sequences analyzed using BLAST (NCBI) EMBOSS Needle tool (EMBL-EBI). DNA extracted from these amplified further with gene specific primers.
